Tanzania has been on a journey of rigorous development focusing on different sectors throughout the nation. One of this is the energy sector. In 2018, the government ordered Tanesco(Tanzania’s Electric Supply Company) to stop importing Luku meters and to buy locally produced ones.

REA is an independent body under the Ministry of Energy and Minerals of the United Republic of Tanzania whose main role is to facilitate and promote enhanced access to modern energy services in rural areas of the country.

One of the several projects initiated by the President to improve the quality of life of his fellow Tanzanians was the Ubungo flyover interchange bridge.
